Lessons Learnt from Pilot Program:
Pilot program was launched in the month of August 2010. The objective of pilot program was to run the concept in a small group and see how the results were, study the challenges and validate the feasibility of this program's success if launched across India. Bengaluru was selected as a pilot location. IT sector was selected as a candidate for Pilot.

List of learning's from Pilot program:
  • CAC was constituted from set of passionate Sr. Practitioners who were already volunteering for PMI in several ways.
  • The Chairman of CAC was elected as against nominated by PMI India
  • Champions were also from known groups, through the local Chapters.
  • Governance of the Program was well thought through, documented and reviewed by CAC before it was implemented.
  • CAC Member was assigned one (1) or more champions and them meeting the objective was the responsibility of the respective CAC Member.
  • However, Governance of the CAC was found to be falling apart, as members got busy on their regular work schedules.
  • Where ever there was good connect and communication (per governance guide) between the CAC member and the respective champions, there was momentum.
  • Constant communication motivated the champions to work towards the objective - a phone/conference call once in a month is absolutely mandatory to keep the ball rolling.
  • Connect between the CAC Member and PMI India also proved to be a very effective way to keep the momentum going.
  • The responsibility of the CAC Member to keep the triangle of Champion-CAC Member-PMI India is the key to get results.
  • Champions should have passion in what they are doing.
  • Lack of passion or drive with the Champions or the CAC member is an early warning sign for treading the wrong route.
  • It is essential for the CAC Chairman to keep the CAC intact, keep them in communication and let the passion ignite passion strategy work.
  • The Leadership ability of the Chairman of CAC as well as CAC Members is a must and this program will provide a good platform to present/train such a skill.
  • Constant appreciation of the efforts by the CAC Member to the Champions is also a key motivator.
  • Emails can be handy, but does not translate emotions. Phone calls and in person meetings were found to be very powerful communication medium.
  • Calling out if one is busy on the other part of life and this could help for others to plan accordingly.
  • Working together as a team irrespective of hierarchy in their day jobs has proven to be the best way to collaborate and get results - this is part of the leadership ability to pull all together.
  • Attending the conference calls and meetings help to be a motivator as well as helps keep the team focused on what needs to be done.
  • After all, this is a voluntary program, hence keep smiling and have fun - real secret to success
