Practitioner of the Year
PMI India has established a number of awards to recognize and honor contributions and achievements in the project management profession. PMI India has been administering the PMI India Awards Program since 2009 on an annual basis. This document contains the information and process to be used to submit nominations for PMI India "Practitioner of the Year" Award.
The purpose of this award is to recognize practitioners for outstanding contribution to the development and advancement of the project management profession in India - for work completed by end of calendar year 2012.
The nominee(s) must be a practitioner in project management from India in good standing.
A 'Practitioner' in project management would be involved in managing projects, program or similar initiatives for an organization as an employee or on contract with at least 10 years work experience. It will exclude the role of a consultant, trainer/ coach or as an academic though he or she may be involved in such activities partially as part of their work as a manager. A person will be considered as a 'Practitioner' based on the role performed and not on designation, title or certification.
The nominee may have worked in any sector or domain, such as business, government, nonprofit, social sector etc.
The major contribution (70 % or more) of work executed by the Practitioner should be in calendar year 2012.
Not Eligible
Current PMI staff, contractors, and/or consultants, office bearers of Chapters (previous calendar year and current) are not eligible for this award.
Acts performed under contract to PMI, directly or indirectly, will not be considered.
One Winner and Runner up will be identified out of the nominations received.
Recipients of the Practitioner of the Year Award and the Runner up will be presented the award at the Project Management National Conference, India 2013, being held in September this year. PMI India will acknowledge the Winner and Runner of the "Practitioner of the Year" award at specified PMI events and also through their e-magazine - Manage India and any other PMI or non PMI Publications. The practitioner who is the nominee should be himself/herself be available to receive the award.
Submission Requirements
All submissions will have to be made through an online portal which can be accessed at the link given below:

Submissions have to be in English and in electronic form only.
Contacts for securing peripheral project information by the judging committee should be identified in the project application. The release or clearance of such peripheral materials should be provided by and will remain the responsibility of the nominating group.
The nomination process will consist of the following 2 stages
Stage - Preliminary
Step 1: The nominee will submit 'Preliminary information' about the nomination before April 28th, 2013 online on the PMI Conference 2013 website using the link: http://feedback.html/apps/awards2013/
The nominee will provide the Preliminary Information by answering a set of questions on the online portal. At this stage nominee does not have to send any documents as attachments.
Step 2: The nominee's application at this stage will be evaluated by a panel of judges* and PMI will intimate successful/unsuccessful nominees by email by May 22nd 2013.
Stage - Final
Step 1: The nominee will have to submit 'Final information' about the nomination before June 23rd, 2013 online on the PMI Conference 2013 website. The link will be shared with lead nominators/award applicants whose nomination has been shortlisted for the final stage.
The nominee will provide the Final Information by answering a set of questions on the online portal. At this stage nominee may upload documents as attachments. (upto a max of 10 MB)
All the documents submitted should be converted to a PDF non-editable format. The documents should be compressed into a single folder using WinZip etc. so that only a single compressed entity gets uploaded.
Step 2: The nominee's application at this stage will be evaluated by a panel of jury and PMI will intimate successful/unsuccessful nominees by email by July 24th 2013. Those successful at this stage will become the nominees for the award. A maximum of 6 nominees will be considered for each category of award. The final winner and runner up will be chosen in the next step.
Step 3: The nominee's application at this stage will be finally evaluated / validated by a panel of jury and PMI will intimate the successful winner and runner up by email / phone by August 24th 2013.
The award application can be made by the person applying for the award or any other nominator in good professional standing.
The Practitioner of the Year evaluation will be done by an "at-large" panel of jury, established by PMI India/ Organizing committee.
Two nominations will be selected as the winner and Runner-up of the "Practitioner of the Year" Award. Selection will be made by August 24th 2013. The results of the PMI India Awards Program will be communicated to the awardees by the organizing committee. Formal announcement of the winner shall be made at the PMI India National Conference to be held in Gurgaon in September 2013.

The decision of the designated panel of reviewers will be final.
In case the panel of reviewers feels that none of the individual submissions meet the minimum standards as stipulated in this web page, the award will stand cancelled and no Winner and / or Runner up will be announced.

- The contribution demonstrates broad, far-reaching implications for the project management profession.

- All necessary clearances, releases, and permissions needed for public release of all submitted materials will be obtained in writing.
- Expenses will not be reimbursed for assembling the nomination package or for any presentation materials that may need to be created should the project be selected as the winner.
