Speaking at the conference, Mr. Raj Kalady, MD PMI (India) said, "Managing projects requires specific knowledge and skills which are uniform across the world. Companies need to recruit pre-trained managers. Therefore it is imperative that MBA and Engineering curricula include courses on project management. Unlike more narrowly focused fields of study, project management encompasses an array of skill sets spanning risk management, time management, communication, people management, scope management and other areas. That very diversity is what today's knowledge-based economy demands. Thus, introducing project management in schools will help in grooming the next generation of business leaders."
PMI India has also instituted awards to honor distinguished academicians & scholars for their contribution to the field of project management. These awards were given away at the conference in a glittering ceremony by the Chief Guest - Dr. R Mahadevan, Whole Time Director, India Pistons. The award winners were Dr. Koshy Varghese who received the PMI India Distinguished Scholar Award and Dr. L. Boeing Singh who received the PMI India Young Research Scholar Award.
